How Can I Help?
There are many animals in need of support. WRVC works with local animal rescue groups to care for cats and dogs in our community. Below are links to our friends in rescue with opportunities to volunteer and donate. Every rescue I know is looking for volunteers! The make a world of difference!

Watch for our events.
- Trash Pickup! 3/29/25: We are picking up trash along Lorenzo Green Drive at 10 am on Saturday, March 29th. Bring your own gloves, brightly colored clothes and water bottles. We have the bags!

- Egg My Yard for Rescue! 4/19/25 Sign up to volunteer or have Easter eggs hidden in your yard to raise funds for rescue.
Jefferson City Animal Shelter is a municipal rescue for JC animals. They pride themselves on being an open adoption shelter, meaning that they can get more pets adopted without an onerous adoption process. Studies have shown that open adoptions have increased placement, positive outcomes and decreases in euthanasia and behavioral problems. JCAS needs both adoptive homes and volunteers for socializing and exercising pets, fundraising and marketing.
Armani's Angels is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to assist in the treatment of ill or injured pets. They have helped over 500 animals obtain critical veterinary care. When you donate to Armani's Angels, you're helping save a pet's life! Keep an eye out for their annual Columbia Country Club Golf Tournament in the fall.
Journey Home German Shepard Dog Rescue
Journey Home GSD Rescue is a small, foster-based rescue in Central Missouri run by a group of devoted volunteers who love German Shepherds. Our goal is to assist in the rescue and rehoming of abused, neglected, unwanted or abandoned German Shepherds (and huskies. Let's be honest, we want to help them all.)
People Helping Paws Cat Rescue
People Helping Paws Cat Rescue is a local non-profit that works with clinics and fosters to keep pets in homes and off of the street.
You can meet adoptable cats at the Baristocats Cat Cafe with a coffee for a relaxing afternoon with furry friends (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday). Please schedule your visit here!
